Christmas decorating.

One part twinklie lights, one part glass bulb, a fluffy green tree filling the house with pine....put it all together and *POOF* you get some Christmas magic. Every bit on its own wouldn't be much but when you've got your tree up and lights on, mantel decorated and stockings hung, the house and yard a glow with icicle lights and a candy cane row, it simply makes..... Christmas.
I went and got our tree yesterday when Nate was on duty. I drug all 7 ft of it in the house myself and got it into its stand. When Nate got home the tree was done and the whole down stairs had been decorated...like little elfs took over while he was away.
Today we did the outside stuff. Nate climbed out the upstairs window in onto the porch roof to hang the icicle lights. The next bit was a tad sketchy, one of those "don't try this it home moments", Nate climbed the ladder that was on the second story roof while I held it steady so he could hang the lights on the attic roof line. It actually turned out pretty good, though I wouldn't recommend our light hanging method. With Christmas just 2 1/2 weeks away we've finally got all our decorations up and Christmas shopping done(well for the most part, anyways). Next we get to take them all down, box it up and do it all over again next year!

Peta for animals, rights?

If you are a animal loving, meat eating american like me you've probably had mixed feeling towards PETA. After all they do a lot for animal rights and rescue thousands of abandon or abused pets each year. There campaigns against hunting kinda make me laugh, hunting preserves wild life habitat by keeping the population in control. Besides if you're going to eat meat better it be fresh then pumped full of anti-everything that our store bought meat has in it. I'm all for hunting for food, not sport. I recently stumbled onto an article online about PETA and I have to say I was somewhat shocked. http://www.petakillsanimals.com Take a minute to read this. I guess PETA thinks its more important to advertise against eating meat than to save an animals life, hmmmm....Food for thought.

Sick Hubby!

I came home from work yesterday to find the lights off and my poor hubby in bed, a strange occurrence in our home to be in bed at 5pm. I bent down to kiss him on the forehead and He was burning up! When I took his temperature it read 102. He was somewhat out of it and said He aches and felt really weak. The soup and 7up I gave him(the ultimate cure for whatever ails you)mostly went untouched. He slept on and off until I gave him some NyQuil and He went to bed at 9. It seemed to break His fever, but it was back up to 99.5 before He went in to work this morning. I'm hoping his command will either send him to the Doctor or back home to rest, and I really hope He doesn't have the flu. I'll be very thankful if He's feeling better for Thanksgiving tomorrow.

Blown Away....

Apparently Ida has collided with a nor'easter and now we have this crazy storm going on. Wind gust have hit over 55mph and the rain is being blown sideways! Just blocks from home the Chesapeake Bay has massive waves. We briefly thought about going surfing, but they are giving tickets to anyone they see in water and we don't have wet suites for surfing (water temps are in the low 60's now). I wanted to take more storm photos but its just insane outside....maybe later! Ocean view ave is flooded, luckily we are not in a flood zone. The base and ship yard have been shut down and all schools and most business'. Nate and I both have the day off work, and at least I get to spend the day in my warm, dry , cozy house with my wonderful Hubby. Think I'll make some cookies!

Weekend in our nations capital.

Last weekend we did a spur of the moment trip to DC. I would of loved to have more time, but just happy to finally have made it up there. I have to say I was a bit surprised at how beautiful the city is. Well at least the area we were in! We couldn't fit in everything we wanted to do....not even close! We had to prioritize big time! We chose to do the museum of natural history. I highly recommend it. The history stored in just one of the buildings is AMAZING!!! We spent only an afternoon but I could have stayed in that place for days. The Dinosaurs was the icing on the history cake. You just don't get the scale of how massive they
are until you have a skeleton of one hovering over your head. Let me just say I'm thankful to not be a cavewomen! I also have to say that I truly can't believe in "Titanic" the movie after seeing the "Hope diamond" in person....No women in her right mind would throw that into the ocean!!
The monuments were the other must do on our list. We did manage to get to everything and if I had to guess I'd say we logged over 10 miles in doing so. We saw the Washington monument, the World War 2 memorial, the Lincoln memorial, the capital
building and of course the White house....then we went back and saw them all again to get night shots, SO worth it! Everything is breathtakingly beautiful lit against the skylight of the city. Night also gives a reverent aspect to the monuments causing you to reflect on what they really represent. Just knowing that I was seeing the history that made our country great was humbling. Though this country can be aggravating and frustrating at times(we don't and wont always agree
on how it should be ran) there is always hope and these monuments simply by being, prove that.
A weekend I will never forget. Everyone should try at least once in their lifetime.
